Busy as Bees: Robotics in Kindergarten!

My students need four Bee-Bot programmable robots to help them learn about robotics.

My Students

My kindergarteners are active, kind, talented, and curious students who love to be independent and use technology.

My students live in a low-income neighborhood that surrounds our small Title I school.

Some of our students live in low-income housing, several do not speak English at home, and others have already moved more than once in their young school careers. I want school to be a safe and stable place for my students to learn. They are excited to learn about new technology!

My Project

My students will use Bee-Bots to learn about robotics. They will learn how to program a Bee-Bot. Then they will use the skills they have learned about programing the Bee-Bot to complete literacy tasks. For example, students will use the Bee-Bot and a story sequence map to sequence a story. Story sequencing is not the only skills that my kindergarten students can work on. Some examples of other mats that they would be able to use with the Bee-Bots are sight words, numbers, colors, shapes, and cvc words.

Bee-Bots will allow us to use robotics skills and literacy skills at the same time.

These activities will be highly engaging for all students!
