Help me give my students more mentor texts to enjoy during Interactive Read Aloud and Reading Workshop! We need new titles that they've never heard to keep them motivated to read!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a high poverty school where my students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the obstacles they face, my students enjoy school. School is their safe haven... it's the constant in their life.
All students deserve the same opportunities to become successful, competent readers and writers!
Some of the students in my classroom come from homes where learning to read is not a top priority- meeting the child's basic needs of food and shelter takes precedence. Many of the families I service do not speak English as their first language. My students typically do not live in homes filled with books. All students deserve the opportunity to be immersed in a learning environment where reading is valued and enjoyed.
My Project
For this project, I'm asking for bunches of books! Each day, my class participates in an Interactive Read Aloud and Reading Workshop. We spend time enjoying books and sharing our thinking with each other. This time allows students the chance to increase their comprehension skills.
Sharing stories helps build community in my classroom.
We read books that help us develop empathy and compassion for others. It's a chance for us to connect as people. In addition, mnay of my students are ESL and this is a great time for us to build conversation and language skills.
These books will also make great additions to our classroom library. My students LOVE the Hilo series and can't wait to read the newest book in the series! In addition, Sticks and Stones will be a perfect read aloud after we finish reading Wonder. The Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed is great for teaching plot and The Fantastic Flying Books of MR Morris Lessmore is a fantastic mentor text for metaphors.
For part of the day, I work with teachers as a Literacy Coach in my building. Having this project funded will alllow me to share these books with other teachers in my building. Therefore, this project will reach countless students.
