I teach in a Self-Contained Kindergarten and First Grade Classroom. The students in my class are each on the Autism Spectrum. Just like the Autism Spectrum identifies a wide range of skills across many areas; my students also have a wide range of varying levels of skills in the following areas: communication, functioning, sensory, behavior, academics, social. My students love to learn and do best with hands-on materials. With your help, my students will be more successful in building their foundational math skills! Materials I’m asking for include manipulatives for counting, sorting, patterning; simple games to help support skill transfer (transferring skills learned in the learning environment to the real world); materials that incorporate fine motor skills to help support students' fine motor development.
My Project
My classroom doesn't have an organized system for storing leveled library books and we need one! Currently, our leveled books are stored on a shelf with paper dividing them. Due to the disorganization, students require assistance from staff when they are choosing a new books.
These book bins will be used to keep our leveled library books organized by reading level.
The organized book bins will allow my students to experience increased independence when choosing a new book. Having an organized leveled book library system will also help my classroom to be free of visual clutter. Thank you for your support!
