This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are hardworking and real "go-getters". This is either their first or second year of ever playing volleyball and their commitment to learning a new sport and wanting to excel amazes me.

These players are dedicated, driven, and determined to give their very best to this sport and the team as a whole.

The team has its share of diversity, players coming from different backgrounds, households, and experiences, but they embody the meaning of team excellently. Not only do they show courage and commitment on the court, but they also live out the meaning of a student-athlete and take their classroom experiences seriously.

This is only the second year of having a volleyball team at the middle school where I work. Starting something brand new and putting yourself in a sport that you have no experience with is intimidating for a lot of students, but every girl I have coached has taken the challenge in stride and strives to always do her very best.

My Project

Volleyball, as it is with any sport, is all about repetition so that your body creates muscle memory and the movements that are required for the sport become second nature. It is essential for players to all be able to use an individual volleyball during practice so that they can practice continuously bumping/setting/serving and fine-tune the skills that they need to excel on the court.

By donating to this project, you will help put a quality piece of practice equipment in the hands of my players who will then be able to engage in practice and become the team that they desire to be.

These volleyballs will be used in each of our drills and will allow practices to become more productive. With the proper equipment and the player's commitment and dedication, I believe that this team will reach their goal of excellence in every aspect.
