Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Bullies are everywhere; they are on the school bus, in the cafeteria, and even on the playground. Every student is an individual and it is the reason that the world is full of so many wonderful people. Students need to understand that being different is a good thing and not a bad thing.
I teach second graders and they are at an age where they will learn who they will be for the rest of their lives.
They are starting to form opinions about the world and people around them. It is the perfect time to start discussing bullies and how it affects others.
My Project
I am asking for 1 copy of the book, Bullying in Schools" as well as books by David Shannon. The book "Bullying in Schools" will serve as an introduction to the problem that is present in all schools across the world. I will be able to use the David Shannon books as supplemental materials. David Shannon writes about characters who are different than the average person. Even in his books, "No, David" he writes about a boy who gets in trouble all of the time. Those are most likely the characters that are more likely to become bullies. The whole point of the story though is the fact that no matter how many mistakes you make, someone will always love you. Shannon writes so many stories that teach the meaning of loving yourself as an individual and I want to be able to share those stories with my students.
With your donation and support to stop bullying in schools, my students will be able to have an open conversation about bullying.
They will be able to see that being an individual isn't something wrong, but it is a gift that we are all given.
