My students need 5 copies of Bullying in Schools from Townsend Press, other books on bullying, and a button machine to create an anti-bullying campaign.
Nothing is a more powerful than knowledge. Many of my students are too afraid to talk about incidents of bullying. I want to teach my students that bullying is wrong. Our goal is to create a "bully-free zone" and teach my students how to express themselves and show them how to treat each other.
My students are highly motivated to learn and love to express themselves through their art work.
My sixth graders are entering the difficult middle school years where friendships are challenged. One aspect of bullying is the bystander, and I want to provide resources to help my students know how to identify bullying and how to stand up for themselves and others. They need a creative outlet to express their thoughts on bullying and how to prevent it.
My Project
Bullying is an epidemic that has taken over schools across the country even at an elementary level. The book "Bullying in Schools" by Townsend Press and the other bullying books will serve as fantastic tools to help educate my students about how to treat each other. I also want to provide my students with a button maker. This will serve as a creative outlet that will allow them to process ways to prevent bullying and stand up against it. My students will create âÂÂbadges of courageâ with anti-bullying slogans that they can wear with pride. This project also reaches across the grades. The materials I have requested will be used in all sixth grade classrooms and with our little buddies. Students will read the books and create anti-bullying buttons together.
Please help my students reach the goal of a "bully-free zone" at school!
We need to start standing up to bullies and it all begins with knowledge. This project will assist in teaching my students character skills that will last a lifetime! It will also allow them to make "badges of courage" as they take a stand against bullying behavior.
