Show your Work! As teachers we often times tell our students to show their work, but I mean it in a different way. I want my students to be able to show off their work in the classroom.
My school is a low income school with above 80% free and reduced lunch.
Many of the parents are involved with their child's education, but don't have the education themselves to know how to be the most supportive to their child. I teach students in first grade all the way up to eighth grade, because I am a Resource Room teacher. Each of my student's abilities and skills range and make it to never be a dull day for me! All of my students work hard on projects and skills when they come to work with me and I would love to be able to show off this work.
My Project
Currently the bulletin board supplies in my room are very minimal and with my need to purchase math and reading materials to support my student needs, I don't have the extra resources needed to have quality bulletin boards in my room.
I want to be able to display my student's projects and work in my room through the bulletin boards. That's why I'm asking for bulletin board borders, letters, cut outs, and organizers for my bulletin board materials. I feel this will help make my classroom feel more like theirs, instead of just a room they come to at different parts of the day. With such a wide range of grade levels and skills this is one way I can help make the room feel like everybody! The students will work harder on their projects if they know it is going to be displayed in the room, not just put into a binder that I keep for them. If other peers, teachers, and their parents are able to see their work, I think they will work much harder!
This project is greatly important to me and my students as we try to make our room feel like a home to everyone.
The donations will help purchase materials to decorate our bulletin board with student work and also supplies to help organize these materials. This project will impact my students by allowing them to display their work, but it will impact more than just them. Their parents, other teachers, and student will be impacted as they see my student's work displayed!
