My students this year are a mix of freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors in my Drawing I and Portfolio of Design, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, and Marine Science Courses.
My classroom courses, Robotics and 4H club meetings are very active, and encourage my students to utilize inquiry, higher level thinking, and active learning strategies in order to complete real world problem based projects and classroom assignments- this project will provide the materials needed to support our student's learning as they work to develop a deeper understanding of Anatomy and Physiology and Biology content, and how to integrate Drawing I and Portfolio Design concepts into these studies!
Our students will take the skills that they learn from this project in order to build background knowledge, learn the required skills and content, and build their projects based on real world problems!
My Project
The addition of this 3D printer to our program will allow our Anatomy of Design students to take their learning to the next level!
Our students will use this 3D printer, build plates and print material to demonstrate their knowledge Anatomy and Physiology and Portfolio of Design concepts as they investigate and research space travel and requirements of systems to allow students to successfully colonize the Moon and Mars- they will plan, design, and print scale models of their living accommodations and spacecraft!
These designs will be constructed after our students learn about the human body and how the human body systems function to keep humans healthy and alive. Our students will then research NASA space systems and how they have changed over time in order to meet the needs of the specific missions. Our students will then plan and design their own systems to accomplish the goal of colonizing the Moon and then Mars!
