This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

First graders are curious about the world around them. I have a fantastic group of first graders this year. My first graders love to come to school and learn with their friends. I teach at a Title I school, and the majority of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches.

Despite the many challenges they may face outside of school, my students are enthusiastic and curious about the world around them.

Many of them take their newfound knowledge and teach their family members at home. They take pride in their learning, and they love to learn.

My Project

My first graders come to school with a ton of energy and curiosity. I start my morning with morning tubs which are STEM bins. Each morning they get a different bin to build and create with. This has been a huge success in how our day starts. It reduces anxiety and they get to learn how to work with their peers. I would like to be able to trade out the bins to keep their minds engaged. These building materials are different than anything we have had before. It would be great to add and and rotate these materials with the ones I have.
