This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help spark my kindergarten students’ creativity and innovation with DUPLO LEGO sets. Play is an essential part of learning. The LEGO sets will make a positive impact for my students both academically and socially-emotionally. This is an opportunity for students to learn to share, collaborate, and work together to create something using LEGO sets and for students to also dive into their own imagination through student-driven hands-on creation. With these experiences I would like to foster teamwork and collaboration in my youngest students while developing their creativity and innovation.

The LEGO sets will give my students the opportunity to learn to collaborate, communicate, and critically think outside of the box.

After winter break I began integrating LEGO sets during my two hour-long kindergarten library classes. My students look forward to working together to create using LEGO bricks. LEGO time has become a favorite portion of library classes for my youngest students. The LEGO sets I am requesting will add a STEM component to this hands-on learning experience for my students and will allow them to stretch their imaginations through play. An added bonus of this project is the laughter, joy, and positive social interactions between students.
