Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a unique school. As a Title I school, our students come from a variety of different social and economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is the only school in the Los Angeles School District where students are placed in the most restrictive environment on a general education elementary school site. In 2006 our school welcomed the general education students into our specialized school. Creating a dynamic school community consisting of 50% special education students and 50% general education students.
My Project
Our students loved daily read aloud time and we want to continue to foster their love of reading during this time of distance learning. The books included in this project will serve as a tools that I can use during our Zoom meetings to help maintain student engagement. I will also be able to use them in the future, once we are able to safely return to learning in our classroom. The other materials in this project, such as puppets and/or props will help me bring stories to life for my students.
