My students need thesauruses to improve their vocabulary and to widen their use of research sources.
My students know how to use a dictionary, but need more experience using alternate research sources. Many are unfamiliar with a thesaurus, and will benefit from finding alternates to worn-out words.
Our wonderful school is located in southwest Tennessee, outside of Memphis.
We are one of the top five percent elementary schools in our state based on test scores and growth. Funding projects can be difficult because we do not receive federal funds from Title I.
When students use research materials, they gain experience that they will use for the rest of their lives. They will carry over these skills into middle and high school, when they are writing research papers. They will improve their vocabulary, increase their knowledge of synonyms and antonyms, and become communicators.
Bringing this project into our classroom will truly affect the students for the rest of their lives.
We want to become more successful and outstanding writers, here in third grade and beyond.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
