Over 11 different languages are spoken in my classroom of 22 students. This is both amazingly wonderful and challenging at the same time.
My students are so fun!
I teach kindergarten and have a great group of students who are so willing and eager to learn. There are 22 students in my class who all come from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Over half of my class is learning to speak English fluently as English is their second language. It is great to have such a diverse class because we all learn something from one another.
We are lucky enough to have a high percentage of parental involvement at our school. Together, the teachers and parents work hard to make sure every child succeeds. I strive to be the best for my students because I know that they try their best for me on a daily basis.
My Project
I plan to use the iPads as a fun, exciting and interesting way of learning new concepts. My English language learners will greatly benefit from using the iPads daily as there are many applications that can be downloaded to increase fluency and practice letters and sounds. I would use these iPads in a work station to serve as a way for the students to independently review and practice concepts that have been taught. They will also be able to learn how to use modern technology, which is becoming more and more important each year. Using iPads also helps to refine motor skills and is great for visual, kinesthetic and auditory learners.
This project is so important to our class because it gives the students the opportunity to find learning fun.
It will help them to enjoy school and open their eyes to a different learning style, which some students may truly benefit from. It will also help my English language learners build fluency and confidence.
