My students need craft supplies, glue, brads, hole punchers, and durable scissors to create extraordinary 3D structural projects in our Geometry class. They will be designing and recreating a model of a real world standing structures.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I am honored to work with come from many different backgrounds and cultures. Some of them come to school eager to learn and engage in the lessons and activities in the classroom. They are raised by military and educated families. Their belief is that having a good education will give them a fulfilling life in our society.
However, there is a large population that come from a troubling household of neglect and hardship.
These students come to school with challenges that distract their motivation to succeed. Education for them may seem undesirable or unsustainable due to their circumstances.
My students have the potential to succeed in a safe, encouraging, and engaging classroom environment; however, they're in need of resources within and outside of school. I hope to bring materials and technology that will inspire my students to think beyond the classroom and the hardships they experience at home.
My Project
The following materials will allow students the opportunity to create a 3D, real life structure. Craft sticks, glue, hole punchers, and scissors will help students creatively construct a 3D model. They will work collaboratively with group members to demonstrate geometrical terms on the structure, and collect mathematical calculations to demonstrate mastery in 2D and 3D measurements. Students will be allowed to use the resources provided without any limitation to their socioeconomic status.
With the provided materials, I believe the students will be highly engaged in creating a 3D architectural structure .
This project will peak their interests because they are building an architectural structure from everyday objects. Along with creating this amazing model, they will present the geometric terms, properties, and calculations, such as finding surface area and volume. Through this project, I believe students will engage in a unique, hands-on experience. I am hopeful that they will truly identify themselves with the mathematical process in this project.
