My students need books and other tools to develop emotional intelligence!

My kids are survivors. Many live in poverty and experience traumatic events early in life that affects their development both cognitively and emotionally. They are sweet kids who have families who love them but don't have a lot of the things they need.
My kids are fighters and are capable of great things.
My goal with my DonorsChoose page is to give them the tools to break the cycle of poverty they were born into. Won't you please help me?
Who taught you to be kind? How did you learn to show respect? What does integrity mean to you? All of these things (compassion, respect, integrity) are things are taught at home while others learn it at church. My mission is to build these lessons into our curriculum at school to help create a generation of people who are responsible, courageous, and have good judgment.
My kids are hands-on learners and need tools to help them grasp abstract concepts such as citizenship and perseverance.
The items I have requested are mostly books about various character traits, along with additional tools to drive the message home. The punching bag is a way to help kids safely express their anger. The pillow is for them to practice meditation on. There are also books about deep breathing/relaxation to help cope with big emotions and books for kids in foster care to read to normalize their experiences.
If you wanna make the world a better place, the best plan is to set our kids up for social success!
