I teach Adapted Physical Education at a school for students with Autism. Each one of my students comes into the classroom with a unique set of talents and abilities. My goal within the class is to show students how capable they are of participating in recreational sports activities and living a healthy lifestyle despite having a disability. They are more than capable, and I want others to see that as well.
My students love exploring their environment and learning how to move their bodies to create safe space.
Throughout this year, my students will learn how to safely participate in activities such as ultimate Frisbee, football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and yoga.
My Project
Each one of my students comes into the gym with a unique set of challenges and abilities. Our goal in Adapted Physical Education is to meet each student where they are and challenge them to become stronger.
My students are working towards gaining independence, a stronger body will help them achieve that.
We are looking for medicine balls to be able to safely increase weight as each student progresses. We are also working towards gaining core stability, so the stability ball will help us get there. Help us in our strengthening journey this year!
