I teach gifted learners from all over Columbus. They are interested in so many different ideas and topics. We have a diverse student body, with some kids who have had a lot of experiences and some kids who have more limited experiences. Most of my students enjoy learning and get excited about new information and skills.
"I see the Indian mounds we talked about in class!" said one of my students at a recent trip to the Ohio History Center.
The kids love to make connections between what we do in class and the real world. They are passionately interested in making the world a better place and in having equality for everyone.
My Project
Children love fun, hands-on creative activities. They sometimes don't, however, love writing. Adding Legos and building to their story-creation will aid them in getting their great ideas from their head to reality, and inspire and motivate them in their writing.
"And then the wizard slayed the magic dragon and-- " Now my students can not just use words but also concrete building materials, including props and people, to show the content of their writing.
The unit that these minifigures will be used with includes graphic organizers, prompts, and stories separated by genre. These "toys" will add excitement to our writing!
