Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are from a rural community in North Alabama. Most of them do not have internet access at home and the school is their place for research and challenging activities. These students have qualified to receive gifted and talented services and come to my class for STEM challenge activities each week.

My goal for them is that by exploring STEM activities, they will gain the knowledge and skills needed to help them be prepared for careers in the STEM job field.

Gifted students think at a higher level and crave challenges. My class helps them to extend their knowledge beyond their regular classroom instruction.

My Project

Students will learn how simple machines and mechanisms work. They will develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to create new ways to deal with technological challenges in the future. The Engino STEM kit and the 3D printer will help encourage Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in an interdisciplinary approach.

Students will be given real-world problems to solve using the Engino STEM kit and 3D printer.

This engaging unit of study will help them discover innovative ways to solve these problems. The students will become the facilitator of their learning throughout this hands-on learning approach. They will also learn about a variety of careers during this unit.
