My Students
I am a school counselor and I work with all students from kindergarten through 5th grades in a title 1 school in Newark Delaware. I work with children facing many different challenges on a daily basis ranging from academic, social-emotional, economic, and other matters students may be having struggles with daily.
I meet and work with students in their classrooms, the lunchroom, during recess, and sometimes just walking and talking in the hallway.
My days consist of observing students in their classrooms and in the hallways, interacting with them during lunch and recess, and working with students one on one or in small group settings in my office. I support the whole child by helping them to think less of their everyday challenges and to focus more on their academic success.
My Project
Students are now back in school full-time, and many are struggling with learning how to be a student for the first time. While others are relearning how to be full-time students. The games in this project will go a long way to help teach students social/emotion skills, anger management, how to express their feeling and more.
These games will help students cope with all the stresses and growing pains of being a child and student during this pandemic transition year.
As an elementary school counselor, I am tasked with finding creative ways of getting young students to engage with me and their peers during one-on-ones and small groups. These games will assist me in providing them creative and fun ways in doing so.
