Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As part of a shift to a more inclusive model of special education, this year my school has opened some small special education classes. Though my students benefit from learning in a smaller group, they deserve authentic opportunities to socialize with their peers in general education classes. Help me set up a space where my students on IEPs and students in general education can come together and play board games during lunch and unstructured blocks! Through playing board games, my students will gain experience with turn-taking, following directions, and engaging in casual conversation. As my students practice their conversational skills, I will tailor my social skills instruction to develop my students' confidence interacting with their peers and building friendships in their school community.
