Building Social Language Through Cooperative Play!
My students need cooperative play games like Friends and Neighbors: The Helping Game, stretch and squeeze sensory balls, books, and speedy snow to increase social language, turn taking, and problem solving.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students receive special education services for speech and language needs. My caseload addresses the communication needs for special education K3-5th grade students. My students work hard to increase their speech, language, fluency, and social skills to communicate more effectively in the classroom with their friends and teachers.
My students have disabilities including, autism, significant developmental delay, intellectual disability, and other health impairments.
The majority of my students are in early childhood full inclusion classrooms (K3-K5). My students love to grow their communication skills through fun games, engaging toys, cooking, and crafts!
My Project
My students need fun cooperative play games and books to target communication skills like identifying emotions and social problem solving in an engaging context. These supplies will help my students develop social, receptive, and expressive language skills.
Providing my students with cooperative play games, books, and sensory snow means giving them the opportunity to have meaningful interactions with peers while practicing turn taking, social problem solving, and social language.
These supplies will expand my therapy to include engaging sensory friendly elements like speedy snow and stress balls. My students will love this opportunity to engage in cooperative play and develop social skills with classmates. This is a wonderful chance for my students to increase their communication skills while having fun!
