My students are from low income single parent families. Most of my students are on free or reduced lunch and most days I have to provide snacks in the morning because they didn't have breakfast at home.
My students are brave and most often will work hard for success; they encourage me to give my best and I believe so much in their abilities that I will push until I can see their very best.
Providing them with the right tools and learning aids produces positive educational outcomes. They especially react favorable to hands on learning.
With LEGO EV3 core sets will allow my students to think like engineers and engage in creative, and meaningful learning designs based on scientific principles. I want to have an after school Robotics Club that will explore scientific principles such as centrifugal force, friction, momentum, motion, and force by constructing robots that move and lift objects. The robots require creative designs, trial and error, planning, and team work to achieve positive outcomes.
Providing a hands on, reinforcing educational experience allows the students to learn that they can have a positive impact on their generation of engineers.
This learning experience will provide a basis for and interest in future S.T.E.M. learning. LEGO EV3 is the tool of choice to meet these educational goals.
