My Students

Our school is a Title I school in a rural county in Florida. We serve kindergarten through 5th grade. One hundred percent of our students receive free lunch thanks to a grant our county received.

Our students live up to our school motto of PRIDE.

We challenge each student to be positive, respectful, independent, dedicated learners with high expectations. Our students rise to this challenge each and every day!

I teach second grade with students of varying reading levels. I work with migrant students, ELL students, ESE students, and regular education students. Our teachers work hard to provide rigorous learning opportunities for our students, while these children work hard to meet our high expectations and maintain our A grade.

My Project

After watching my daughter play with the Lego sets we got her, I'm convinced my students would benefit from these.

These sets help strengthen fine motor skills, following directions, cooperation, and focus.

Our school is in a migrant community. Many of our students don't have the opportunity to build with Lego's at home. School is normally all work and no play, but why can't it be both? Why can't they learn basic problem solving and engineering skills while playing?

We are also requesting a pack of storage boxes to keep them in so we don't loose any pieces in our classroom!
