Help me give my students the opportunity to build respect and empathy through diverse literature. These novels represent a variety of countries, races, beliefs, opportunity, and more.

My Project

These texts will be used as a key text in my CE Literature and AP Literature courses. As a student, and teacher, of literature, I know the power of books to show use the world and the perspectives of other people.

Without traveling a step, we can have insight to different cultures, beliefs, and peoples.

I belief the empathy that comes from this exposure is the greatest lesson my students can come away with. The challenge is, our traditional texts - the texts I have access to - are not representative of our world. They are not even representative of my classroom.

These books would be a powerful tool of equity. The students work in literature to explore, research, and analyze their own text. They will then teach their text to their classmates.
