Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of the students at the Title I school where I work at have limited access to books, technology, and digital resources at home, but, through the school library, they have access to many books, eBooks, and online databases. These students come from diverse backgrounds, and some of the families are faced with a daily struggle to meet the family's basic needs.
As the school librarian, I want to get the students excited about reading.
By giving students access to books they can add to their home libraries, I hope to encourage the students to become lifelong learners and readers.
My Project
My students have an extremely limited access to books outside of school. There is not a public library or a bookstore located within our school district. A donation to this project will enable me to put popular books such as Junie B. Jones, Bad Kitty, and Katie Woo into my students' hands, hearts, and homes. When this happens, great things will occur.
A donation to this project will help my students learn to enjoy reading and become proud of their accomplishments in reading.
These books will also help students increase vocabulary, comprehension skills, and fluency rates. This project will allow them to share their accomplishments and new adventures with their families in the comfort of their own homes.
