Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are outgoing and eager to learn new things every day. They love reading and enjoy special projects that help them reach beyond their goals. My students have strong reading skills and require a challenge to continue growth.
We are a kindergarten to fifth grade, Title I, elementary school with more than four hundred children.
All students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a proactive school with several before and after-school tutoring and community outreach programs. Our students' families struggle financially, but everyone is dedicated to helping our parents provide for their children.
The educators and support staff are amazing in their dedication and determination to make a difference in the lives of our students.
We have recently partnered with the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center in Orlando to bring new opportunities to our students in which we will produce a Disney Musical at our school. Our goal is to give each student the very best education and the best support possible at all times. We will not fail in our mission, and our students share our determination to succeed!
My Project
During this time of distance learning, it is necessary to have materials that will allow for teacher demonstrations to engage students in the science concepts. The books will be used for read alouds while the laser kit, snap circuits, and STEM activities will be used for teacher demonstrations that are video recorded or completed in live video conferencing with students.
These materials will allow students to continue building their problem solving and critical thinking skills even though they are participating in distance learning.
