My students need science, technology, engineering, technology, and mathematics (STEM) learning centers to facilitate critical thinking in a fun interactive way!
Our school is very special we are a high performing, Title I, Renaissance school. Our school population is about 88% Hispanic, about 3% African American, about 2% Asian, and 7% Caucasian. Most of our students are English language learners. Our high performance is really due to how hard our students work. Their great efforts score enormous gains for our school.
In addition to our hard-working students, we truly have great caring families which allows our school culture to be one of a kind.
Our parents and students value education as much as our teachers do. Together with our families, we make our school a wonderful place for students to learn and teachers to teach!
My Project
I have been fortunate to have been given an opportunity to move up with my fabulous first graders to second grade. Although I am pumped, I need more resources for them. My students need more challenging learning opportunities to allow for creative STEM based thinking.
These STEM kits will allow my students to continue to expand their knowledge on scientific concepts such as: flight, friction, airflow and more allowing them to design and build rubber band roadsters, create custom planes and construct a real-working windmill!
If that doesn't sound engaging I don't know what is! I am really looking forward to continuing to work with my students and facilitating them to become engineers.
