My Students

The students in all of my courses are eager to learn & create, which is why our class works best when we encourage their curiosity through hands-on learning opportunites. This project will benefit a variety of students in multiple Biology classes. Some students participate in advanced, enrichment type courses and some participate in co-taught, inclusive classrooms.

Our students love learning through a variety of avenues, but using creativity and hands-on approaches to discover what makes science so much fun, helps them learn best!

My Project

10th grade biology covers very complex cellular topics such as photosynthesis, cellular respiration, mitosis and meiosis. These processes contain biomolecules that can be used as either reactants or created as products. There are many chemical reactions that take place as these molecules change. These processes can be difficult for students to visualize and understand.

By using these model kits, students can build three dimensional molecules, and physically manipulate them to mirror the steps of these complex processes.

This really brings the processes to light for our students!

These model kits are able to be shared and reused for multiple topics, year after year.
