My Students

I teach High School students who mainly are our at-risk students. My students are those that are trying to get back on track to graduate & need the extra guidance to better their situation. They are great kids but just didn't have the motivation or guidance in being successful in a normal classroom.

My students are looking for an escape & a mentally easy atmosphere that works for them to become successful.

My students each work at their own pace with guidance & tools on how to better study & reach their goals. We work on plans of how to remediate lost credit & how to get their current grades up.

COVID impacted my students' learning by creating the idea that school is not a priority & can be missed. It has caused mental instability which has pulled away their motivation to get their work done or be present in class. Because of this, more kids are missing out on learning & they're falling behind in the basic skills that they need.

My Project

When students have completed their work & are on track to graduate with good grades, they need a space to get "away" from the classroom. I want to create a safe space for these kids to relax & get away from the normal classroom feel.

I love to reward my kids for their hard work & there is nothing that gets these kids motivated like candy & food!

They also need supplies to help them finish their assignments & projects like rulers, glue, notebooks, & working calculators (batteries). If they have these, they can quickly get to the point where they get to participate in the safe space.
