My students need a variety of fiction book sets including the Magic Tree House Boxed Set, Junie B.'s Books in a Bus!, Wimpy Kid Box of Books 1-7, Chronicles of Narnia, and Roald Dahl Magical Gift Set.
Remember your favorite book as a kid? Books by E.B. White, Roald Dahl, and Beverly Cleary are still loved by kids today and I want to make sure our classroom is filled with them so that the students can build their own favorite memory of a book they read in second grade.
The students at our school are respectful, kind, and full of energy.
They enjoy being challenged and have a great love for reading. I have a great range of readers in my classroom. Some reading at a pre-K level and some reading at a 7th grade level. They enjoy project-based assignments where they get to be creative and work with other classmates. I have a group of really hard workers that love to see other students in our classroom succeed. I am proud to be a part of a school where creativity is encouraged, hard work is rewarded and recognized, and collaboration is valued and emphasized.
My Project
With a variety of books to choose from, the students in my class will enjoy silent reading time and use our Library Center to explore new books. I want students to cherish reading and find books they love. I also plan to read aloud some of the books from our library in order to find ways to hook the children in. Once they get a preview of a book, hopefully they gain interest and find ways to independently search for books to read on their own. My ultimate goal is to improve my students' reading skills and I will help them along the way by exposing them to as many books as I can.
In order to help students with their reading capabilities, they need access to a variety of books.
The books I've selected range from beginning reader books to more advanced reader books. I want students to challenge themselves and explore new books, but I also want them to be able to read at their reading level and not feel overwhelmed by selecting a book that is too difficult for them.
