BUILDING OUR FUTURE: One Brick at a Time!
My students need a Brick-Building activity table and a set of building bricks to create engineering masterpieces!
My students are almost all from low income families. Over 95% of our students get free and reduced lunches. Most are also from homes where English is not the primary language. They speak mainly Spanish and Haitian-Creole in their homes.
I run the media center and we see the kids who are thirsty for knowledge and love books and learning!
They come down eager to get books and enjoy the resources we have. They devour new materials and love to come to the media center. We consider it the heart of the school and the best part of their day.
Students will be able to create buildings and whole scenarios using these colorful building bricks and the base brick activity table. They will use their imagination to make a visual concrete product. The activity table is an awesome template to work on!
Creating with blocks is very engaging to kids!
They can also use the bricks to form words, practice spelling, and illustrate mathematical concepts, like symmetry and area. Most of our students can't afford these types of toys at home to help develop their math, engineering and architectural skills. So, we can provide them here at school to supplement and enrich their education.
