My students need to be able to explore through sensory work and play. This will benefit them by gaining strength in their fine motor skills as well as promoting play while learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an incredible group of 5 and 6 year olds who are growing up in the inner city. Our school is Title 1 and provides them with both breakfast and lunch to ensure they are not going hungry. Many of my students' families struggle financially and several life in shelters or are homeless.
Nevertheless, they come to school excited about learning every day and I do my best to give them exciting and engaging ways to learn.
I am inspired daily by the passion they have for school! My students and their families have such a commitment to their learning despite all of their hardships.
My Project
Many of my students come into kindergarten without being able to hold a pencil or use scissors properly. They need fun and engaging ways for them to workout their fine motor muscles while still using their noggins.
We will use these resources during our center time to promote hands on practice of using their hands and fingers to do things like pick up things and grasps materials, all while having fun.
These types of activities will help them build stamina for all the important school skills they need like writing, drawing and cutting. I want my students to develop these skills now so they can be successful throughout their entire academic career, and into adulthood.
