Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 20 eager, enthusiastic and energetic first graders. We are an active, engaged learning community. Each of my students show their learning in unique ways that reflect their unique abilities.

We are fortunate to be working with a hands on curriculum that affords the children the ability to move in studios to construct and demonstrate their learning.

They work within a learning community to develop concepts related to curriculum topics. They work cooperatively, encouraging and inspiring each other to succeed.

My Project

Our class has adopted a new hands on curriculum that allows the children to learn academic content from a mentor text. Then through STEM, Drama, Art, Library, Writing and Drawing and Building and Construction "Studios," children construct their learning using a variety of materials and modalities. The children move through these studios by choice and produce exhibits of their learning.

New tables and chairs will give the children the opportunity to collaborate on their projects by utilizing community seating.

The children work together creating projects to evaluate and demonstrate their knowledge of concepts. Children will then present their projects to a variety of audiences.
