Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are jewels to the world. They are future leaders, thinkers, designers and innovators. They are community members that support each other and are learning to collaborate in positive environments that stimulate the head and the heart. They are learners that require hands-on and cooperative manipulatives.

STEAM is about innovative thinking and design.

It provides our students with moments where they can work together to create codes, projects and games. It gives them the ability to support each and problem solve with each other. There are so many critical social-emotional development lessons that overlap with STEAM standards. It's truly a beautiful place to be.

My project is geared towards getting more developmentally appropriate materials for my students to get crafty with.

My Project

Our classroom will be engineering, planning and constructing an entire city! To do this, students will be given jobs like architect, urban planner, environmental impact assessor, civil engineer, amongst others. The teams will use their classroom budgets, wallets and bags to buy the materials necessary to build their communal structure and neighborhood.

Students will be responsible for their own budgets as they come to the "bank" and purchase necessary materials.

The resources and materials with this donation will help kid students organize, as they have their "shopping bags," "wallets" and "money," to buy, trade and sell resources that they need to build their homes and cities.

As students work to imagine a new world, they will also be learning how the world around them works! Help them learn in their interdisciplinary craft project that stresses the importance of urbanization, modernization and the social studies that center around it.
