Dr. Hudson from Wilmington NC is requesting lab equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need these Breakout EDU kits to learn to think deeply, work cooperatively, develop creative solutions to problems, and persist even when a task seems difficult.

I teach in the Design Center of a Title I elementary school in Southeastern North Carolina. Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced cost lunch and many of our students are exceptional learners. As a special areas teacher, I have the honor and pleasure of knowing and teaching all of the students in our school.
In the design center, students explore, experiment, plan, build, and create!
We work hard, try new things, and are not afraid to make mistakes. We use science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), along with the Think, Make, Improve Design Process to design and create all sorts interesting things from pipe cleaner towers to electrical circuits and beyond. I love working with all of our students and helping them learn and grow through design and technology!
We have an awesome group of diverse learners who are excited to come to school every day and eager to learn! Our staff works hard to ensure all of our students are exposed to as many experiences and opportunities as possible. I am excited about the possibilities DonorsChoose.org grants present. Our students deserve the best! We are working hard to provide it for them and appreciate your support!
I seek to ensure our students have a wide variety of experiences that help them learn to think deeply, work cooperatively, develop creative solutions to problems, and persist even when a task seems difficult. These are important life skills that will benefit our students for the rest of their academic careers and far into their futures. The Breakout EDU kits requested in this grant can be used with any content area to help students develop these skills in a fun and motivating way. The breakout boxes present students with challenging, yet attainable tasks, which require them to work together to decipher clues and solve problems. I teach all students in Kindergarten through fifth grade and will use the breakout boxes in my classroom with all grade levels. When not in use in my classroom, I will share the boxes with other staff members, so they can use them in their own classrooms.
This request is for two Breakout EDU kits.
These kits include everything we will need to solve over 500 pre-made puzzles created for the classroom environment and develop our own puzzles specifically designed for our students.
Thank you so much for considering our grant. We can’t wait to start building our brains with Breakout EDU!
