Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am proud to work at one of OUSD's most diverse schools; as a main hub for neighborhood, newcomer and refugee students, my site serves 700+ students whose families represent over 30 countries and speak over 20 languages.
My classroom fosters a community of students who reflect this larger population and it is my intention to build a classroom community where cultural and linguistic diversity is celebrated and leveraged for learning.
Please consider supporting me as a first-year teacher who wants to create a classroom and fill it with resources and materials that will support this vision and goal.
My Project
I'm a first-year teacher aiming to fill my classroom library with sixteen different sets of leveled books that will support my students' learning and love for reading.
With your help, my students will gain access to hundreds of books that will offer them a variety of stories and information to hook their interests and support their growing reading muscles.
At this moment, their classroom library is limited in books, as well as rife with missing or ripped pages. With a large increase in book selection, my students will be able to find inspiration, validation, and celebration within the four walls of their classroom! Thank you!
