Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." That is why I try to create a classroom environment that encourages student involvement.
Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area where all of our students are provided with free breakfast and lunch.
Most of the children come from hard working families that have lost their jobs in manufacturing and are struggling to make ends meet. Each student brings their unique learning style, which can be addressed by involving them in their learning process while having fun at the same time. Our school mission statement is these things we do so all may lead. We try to provide all students with opportunities to lead their own learning.
Providing my students with a fun and engaging way of learning the math and literacy skills necessary to be successful in the real world is my goal as an educator. VersaTiles do just that. They are an engaging alternative to the traditional skills practice. They allow the students an opportunity to self-check and monitor their own progress at their own pace. My goal is to help all students lead their own learning.
VersaTiles are great for task centers, independent or partner work, and 1-on-1 tutoring/remediation.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competencies in both reading and mathematics.
