GE is a Title I school where more than half of our students are currently enrolled in our free/reduced-price lunch program. There is a wide variety of socio-economics in our community with the majority living in poverty. Each day offers its challenges for these young students but with our staff of highly qualified teachers these children are given the love and care they need and deserve.
My students thrive for love, encouragement, and acceptance!
As an early childhood educator, it is important to prepare each lesson with the various learning styles of each student in mind.
Many of my students learn best visually and kinesthetically, therefore I am constantly on my toes with different ways to make hands-on lessons! I am an advocate that learning needs to be fun and engaging. Engaging the minds of 25 kindergarten students all at once can be a challenge, but IT IS POSSIBLE!
My Project
My project contains several different sets of building materials. The materials consist of waffle builders, star builders, nuts and bolts, 3D builders and more. These materials can be used for many different stem projects from creating robotic creatures to building bridges. These materials would be a perfect fit for my kindergartners as they thoroughly enjoy doing any type hands on learning.
Kindergarten students are investigators with curious little minds.
These builders will be apart of our daily learning to help promote students love for creating and building. Students would be allowed to chose a set of building materials and given time to create and build various structures. I find stem important and a great way for getting students to think critically!
