Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have a few older desktop computers, but with 21 students in each section it is limiting. Having a Kindle at their table would provide a resource right at their fingertips and would assist in keeping them at the fast pace of today's educational system.
Young teens are reluctant to double check their work or look up unfamiliar words or phrases, it takes time.
I'm hoping with the tablet within reach they will be more inclined to utilize higher level vocabulary and check their spelling and grammar when writing.
My Project
Having the tablets will help toward the goal of becoming independent learners. These Kindles will be used in student groups during reading and writing lessons. They will have a fast resource within reach to utilize for research, spelling and grammar help. They need support in addition to me and having additional technology in the classroom will help greatly.
Additional technology in our classroom will improve my students' lives because we have become a fast paced society that is technology driven.
Students in districts such as ours are at a disadvantage when it comes to such tools. This is just another small step to help them become independent learners.
