Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working with students with special needs in a low-income school district has allowed me to recognize the challenges many of my students face both in and outside of the classroom. Despite the challenges they encounter, I am always looking for innovative and research based approaches to provide my students with rich, creative and meaningful learning experiences. I have a diverse community of children with a high population of English Language Learners and students with special needs. Many of their homes lack essential educational resources as well as basic necessities for living. I believe that all students can learn when given the appropriate support, resources and opportunities.
Quality education is the key for my students to overcome poverty and develop the love for learning.
My Project
Using books in the classroom to reach my learners with special needs is a beneficial tool to help them connect, discover and learn more about the real world. The requested selection of books will help my students learn about financial literacy in an exciting and engaging way. The Cricut Maker Machine Bundle will allow my students to create visual representations such as collages, infographics, and graphic organizers to promote financial literacy and reading comprehension in my classroom.
Most importantly, these tools will give my students visuals to enhance their knowledge about financial literacy, help them begin to think and make connections to real world finance experiences, and continue to build their love for reading.
