My Students

My students are sweet first graders in a low-income community with almost 80% of students on free and reduced price lunch. Their main desire is to learn how to read!

The students are in first grade- a critical point for learning how to read.

For students to learn to read, it is important that they are interested and engaged in the book's topic. Reading will not be engaging to my students unless they are interested in the topic of the book! Donating to this project to get 60 books into the classroom library will give my students more choices of what books they can read.

My Project

The books I order will go directly into my classroom library- a place where students are free to borrow books daily. The students will be able to choose books based on their interest in the book, and not just pick a book because it is there- something they are having to do now because my choices are so few.

Donations towards my project to purchase a set of books for a classroom library will improve my students lives inexplicably.

Students who may have been turned off of learning will embrace it eagerly. This project will make a difference in my current students and every classroom of students I have in the years to come. These books will allow me to build literacy lovers and positive community members!
