Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! They want to learn and are ready to soak it all up. We need these basic manipulatives in our classroom so we can get a head start on Kindergarten with a strong foundation.
Our Bilingual Pre-K class is ready to rock and roll this school year.
We are in a high poverty, low income area, but we do not let that get in our way! We come to school ready and willing to get the most out of our day of learning and socializing. Getting ready for Kinder is what we are all about!
My Project
These fabulous literacy manipulatives will be used daily in our Pre-K classroom. There is nothing like a hands on approach to solidify learning. We are at the learning starting point, but this is where we need to have a strong foundation for the academic school years to come. We will be able to recognize letters, start building words, and recognize letter sounds with these amazing manipulatives.
By using all of the letter flash cards in Spanish and English, our Bilingual students will be on the right track for both languages heading into Kindergarten. Along with the flash cards, we will use the alphabet letters and syllable cards to make words in both languages. We will have these items readily available for the students at their writing, reading, and alphabet centers so they will be surrounded by these wonderful manipulatives. They will also be able to start to read and write sight words making their transition into Kindergarten much easier!!
It is hard to explain how much these literacy manipulatives will positively impact our learning.
