This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“The whole world opened up to me when I learned to read" said Mary McCleod Bethune. My students needs these educational supplies to build a strong reading foundation to empower them to become lifelong readers.
Our middle school is a title one school and it is located in a very rural area.
Our middle school is also a "Leader In Me" school. We are teaching students leadership skills that will empower them to become leaders in their community. I teach six middle school students with mild/moderate disabilities. I have one student with Autism, two students with mild/moderate disabilities, and three students with Down Syndrome. My students love to read books and they are excited about learning new sight words daily to increase their reading vocabulary.
My Project
The sight word game will be used to teach students new sight words and it will also be used to increase students' reading fluency. The sight word readers will be utilized to improve students' reading comprehension skills and the treasure chest will be used as an incentive to motivate students to learn new sight words and to read books.
This reading project will be very beneficial for my students because it will give them the skills that they need to become lifelong readers.
This project will also help to improve students' reading fluency rate, reading comprehension skills, and vocabulary. This project will also make students become more confident readers.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go." said Dr. Seuss
