Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Over 80 % of my students are considered low-income, at risk, and/or English Language Learners.

However, despite these challenges, my students are proving to grow in their love of learning and academic knowledge.

My class is a diverse group who brings various life experiences, cultures, and knowledge to their learning. I want to continue providing them with the best opportunities to tie in their current knowledge with the new concepts, materials or information presented in class. My students deserve a high quality education with high quality resources. I expect my students to perform to the best of their ability and to always challenge themselves to work on improving their current performance. I want to lead by example and provide my students with the best materials for teaching. I feel these resources will aid in providing the opportunities my students deserve.

My Project

My students must keep up with the latest advancements in technology to be college and career ready. Students in my classroom have been exposed to 3D printing and it has opened up a whole new way of learning for them. I was able to observe my students develop ideas and have fun with language, social sciences, and math learning.

The 3D printer will improve not only students participation but will also promote active learning.

Students will interact with a subject and use the physical learning materials for objects that a 3D printer offers.

Students will be able to interact with a subject at every stage of the lesson which will help students grasp the subject matter and retain information. For example, when students are learning about symmetry in Math, they are able to produce an item that contains symmetry and they are able to touch, study, and take home products that are as intricate as the real-world equivalent.

Students can try new things, test theories, and think more creatively. The 3D printer will encourage students to be innovative and creative because they can adjust their idea through trial and error. As a result, students are more likely to remember the facts and lessons.
