Children are not born with life and social skills. These skills are modeled and purposefully taught. I am requesting a class set of "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids" by Sean Covey. This is the children's version of "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey.

My Project
I am requesting 25 copies of the book called "The 7 Habits for Happy Kids" and 1 copy of The 7 Habits of Happy Kids game. I would use these books to conduct class book studies that would cross the curriculum in reading, citizenship and writing skills. Additionally, the books would serve as a staff resource for individual teacher check-out. The book contains academically enriched vocabulary and incorporates higher critical thinking skills. Most importantly, it introduces positive character traits that employers value in their work force. The character traits included in this book are:
Ch. 1:Be Proactive (& accepting responsibility)
Ch. 2 Begin with the End in Mind (vision, goal setting and planning)
Ch. 3 Put First Things First (work first, then play)
Ch. 4 Think Win-Win (compromise)
Ch. 5 Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Ch. 6 Synergize (valuing differences and then working together to create a better solution than anyone could alone)
