Mr. Collins from Durham NC is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need hands-on learning aids such as the STEM Learning Labs and Watch & Record Plant Lab that accommodate their learning styles.

These highly energetic 2nd grade boys are more visually inclined and learn best when physical objects are accessible to help them make sense of problem-solving. I desire to utilize effective best practice strategies that will allow me to meet their learning strengths and give them the best opportunity to grow and develop.
However, there may come a time when our students struggle with a certain activity, therefore we must find out how to change the environment where they are equipped with the resources that match the real-world tasks at hand.
These students really enjoy highly engaging activities where they can utilize hands-on learning and accommodate their tactile learning strengths.
Therefore, when we are engaged in solving real-world problems and higher-order thinking questions, we must be equipped with real-world resources that we may be able to make relevant connections and improve retention of the concept.
As my students endeavor into a more rigorous and higher-order thinking science curriculum, I desire to equip them with hands-on resources that accommodate their learning styles and deepen their conceptual understanding of the content.
These hands-on resources will be used to integrate stem into the curriculum with the design process, making predictions, testing theories and building efficient machines.
The STEM Learning Labs will allow my students to explore flight, friction, and airflow as they design and build rubber band roadsters, create custom fliers and construct a real-world windmill. While the Watch & Record Plant Lab will create a living lab where students can grow there own plant and track the development through each stage of the life cycle.
