My class is made up of 30 students from very different family types. Many of my students are from military families and they move every three years. Another large group of my students are migrant and they move to where their parents can get work. This mobile environment can often cause students to lose motivation to learn. I am looking for great ways to inspire learning so that my students can reach their reading and math goals by doing activities that are inviting.
My students will be overjoyed with any new items. I have requested a bean bag chair and a wobble chair that we use for reading independently as well when students need a chair that moves to help with getting the wiggles out.
To watch a child light up when they are thinking out of the box is inspirational.
Science materials are always a big hit as they encourage students to think out of the box and explore as a small group. These group projects can lead to many other things in the classroom. Writing and drawing as well as mathematics can play a huge role in these group activities.
As a teacher I am always looking for ways to draw my students into productive learning. Hands on materials will help motivate students to reach their learning goal .
