My Students

My precious students come from diverse cultures and backgrounds but share one important thing: Most, if not all, come from families struggling to make ends meet, and now more than ever, have little to no disposable income for critical school supplies.

As a result of the pandemic, many of the families in our school community find themselves dependent upon community food banks and support services to just get by day to day.

My students' "special needs" are still ever present, but in the face of families struggling to simply survive, are not getting the attention or material supports they need and deserve.

You see, my students all have special needs and obstacles to learning including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. They CAN and DO, however, have the desire and potential to learn and live their best lives - but they depend on the support from their teachers and therapists! To be a part of my students' development and help them master skill after skill is beyond gratifying - as is witnessing the pride they feel as they achieve their goals and become more independent and successful! But my students and I NEED YOUR HELP in order to make this happen!

My Project

My students are entering a whole new world of learning when they return to "school" this September. The sharing of small manipulatives and everyday objects children use to develop critical hand skills will be almost impossible due to new COVID safety guidelines. Equally important is that most students will be learning, in part, from home where they do NOT have these supplies.

This project will help give each student his or her OWN small collection of important supplies with which to develop many fine and visual motor skills, improve muscle strength, and engage in art and fine motor projects - a SAFE "bag" of fun and learning of their OWN!

These will include fidgets, theraputty, stickers, foam cubes, stress balls, lacing practice and more.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve students' manipulative and hand skills, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement and successful participation in important life skills!
