Our school is a small K-8 school in the heart of the central valley of California. We are surrounded by dairies and farms just outside of our little town!
Being a small school brings such a unique experience to our students as we have a family atmosphere!
We are able to bring older students together with younger students ways most schools are unable to do. It really works to bring about a community of learners rather just a bunch of people attending the same place.
One of our major science units revolves around animal habitats and their characteristics. Our students spend a great deal of time studying different biomes and the needs and adaptations that take place to live in various places of the world.
To help reinforce this concept, our big field trip of the year is to our local zoo where students see animals in a man-made version of the animals' natural habitat.
I would like to extend that knowledge by giving my students the opportunity to create their own zoo in the classroom with this BrickLab kit created just for this purpose.
