My students are amazing! Many of them come from lower socioeconomic homes, but that doesn't define them. They are eager, energetic, and inquisitive learners. They come to school every day ready to learn and to be the best they can be.
Students face challenges every day and it's my privilege to help them overcome these challenges.
All students eat breakfast and lunch free of charge. Many of them also receive free/donated supplies and are involved in a backpack sack program which provides some food during the weekends.
Regardless of their situation at home, they know that school is a safe place for them to learn and grow.
My Project
After much research, I have done away with morning work for my hard working students. Instead of having a paper waiting for them every morning, they are greeted with a variety of STEM activities to choose from. I have a variety of games and puzzles for them to complete, but they really enjoy the few building activities even more.
I would like to provide them with more STEM building activities to begin their day.
Students begin their day by talking, planning, and working together to accomplish a goal.
I have seen such a difference in my students since beginning our mornings with activities rather than paperwork. The activities help set the mood for the day. They come in excited to see what activities await them.
